Deathwatch and The Maids view poster
By Jean Genet
October 28-November 20, 2005
Directed by Andrew Bielski.
Featuring Brendan McMahon, Nicholas Warren-Gray,
William Fraser II & Kevin Dwane.
Celebrated by The New York Times as "one of the most unremittingly moving works in the modernist repertory," Genet's The Maids follows two sisters through their grotesque and ritualistic impersonations of their employer and subsequent designs to destroy her.
Deathwatch explores the twisted hierarchy of crime underlying the relationships between three prison convicts. In their feverish competition to outdo one another, two inmates will stop at nothing, even murder, to win the admiration of the highest-ranking criminal in the cell.
On October twenty-eighth a single all-male cast of actors tackles these stark meditations on identity and illusion in a four-week, rotating repertory run at the CRS Studio Theatre in Union Square.
A production of the Egress Theater Company. This program is made possible in part through the sponsorship of The Field.
