The Nose & The Overcoat view poster
From the tales by Nicolai Gogol
September 9-19, 2004
Adapted and directed by Andrew Bielski.
Original musical score by Patrick Penta & Andrew Bielski.
From two of Nicolai Gogol’s most beloved and widely known tales, The Nose & The Overcoat follow the exploits of two unlikely heroes, one in pursuit of his run-away nose, the other in search of his stolen overcoat, on a wildly entertaining journey through a world in which the extraordinary is commonplace and perfect nonsense, surprisingly sensible!
One of the greatest of Russia’s literary geniuses, Nicolai Gogol is said to have paved the way for such literary giants as Franz Kafka and Fyodor Dostoevsky. He is known to audiences largely for his comedy, The Government Inspector, dubbed by Vladimir Nabokov "the greatest play ever written in Russian (and never surpassed since)." Now, two of Gogol’s most popular and enduring tales are being brought to life at the Brooklyn Lyceum in a new adaptation with original music. Don’t miss this unique theatrical experience!
A co-production of the Egress Theater Co. and Blair Preiser Productions.
This program is made possible in part through the sponsorship of The Field.
